day 1 - Arrival in Antananarivo

Meet and great at the airport, then transfer to your hotel, la résidence lapasoa or the royal palissandre**.

day 2 - Antananarivo / Morondava (b,l,d)

Transfer to the airport for your air madagascar flight to morondava. This town is the historic capital of the menabe area. This colourful town is very animated, especially on market days. Tropical fruits, spices, fabrics are sold here... The small habour is also spectacular: local schooners are arriving and leaving following the tides loaded of wood, "satrana" (palm tree leaves), coconut, or zebus... Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, le renala or the baobab café**. Lunch at the hotel, then in the afternoon , excursion to the famous "allée des baobabs".

day 3 - Morondava / Belo sur mer (b,picnic lunch,d) - 109km

After breakfast, departure for the south. we first leave the city and ford the impressive kabatomena river (150m wide). Then we continue our way on a nice secondary road, through the bush, till we arrive to the huge salt marsh. Arrival in belo in the afternoon. Night at the ecolodge du menabe.

day 4 - Belo sur mer / Manja (b,picnic lunch,d) - 109 km

Early morning departure to visit the schooner factory. This place is particularly well known over madagascar for the quality of the boats. Some people come from far away to order their boat here. It is very impressive to see these people building such boats with rudimentary tools and no plan.

Then departure for manja.Today, we will cross desert areas, passing by traditional sakalava tombs decorated with the famous "aloalo", a symbolic representation of the deceased person's life. the bush is full of bot jujube, and spiny species (mainly euphorbiaceae and didieraceae).
Manja used to be the capital of a former sakalava kingdom, but nowadays, it is only a stop for travellers between morondava and tuléar.

Dinner and night camping.

day 5 - Manja / Morombe (b,picnic lunch,d) - 82km

This day will be spent in the deep bush. We will see only a few villages, and the road is more difficult than the previous days. However, the wild landscape is very nice, and makes you feel so far away everything !

Dinner and night at the local hotel la croix du sud.

day 6 - Morombe / Andavadoaka (b,d) - 46km

today we have less distance to do than the previous days, and we will easily arrive for lunch at the very pleasant laguna blu resort. the hotel comfort will be very appreciated after the last days spent in the bush. free afternoon at leisure in this beautiful postcard landscape.

day 7 - Andavadoaka (b,d)

Free day at leisure. different activities are available at the hotel, such as diving, high sea fishing or windsurfing. Some sea excursions are on offer as well. A short walk to the village in the afternoon will also be the opportunity to see the fishermen coming back from their fishing day... Suddenly the village get very animated ! dinner and night at the laguna blu resort.

day 8 - Andavadoaka / Salary (b,d) - 64km

Short car distance today as well, in the vezo country. Vezo are nomad fishermen living along the south west coast of madagascar. The village of salary is smaller than andavadoaka and less touristic.There is only one hotel for the moment open to visitors, the salary bay where we will spend the two coming nights.

day 9 - Salary (b,d)

Many excursions are possible from the hotel to discover the spiny forest, the salted lake or the typical vezo village of salary and its sacred cave.
As well diving, snorkelling, waterskiing and boat excursions are possible on the lagoon.

In the evening, you'll meet the quad team who is going to answer your questions and explain you how will be the two following days. Indeed, you are going to drive your own quad, accompanied by professional guides and a technical assistance. Tinner and night at the salary bay.

day 10 - Salary / Ifaty (b,picnic lunch, d) - 84km

Today, you are going to be the driver.... of your own quad ! early morning breakfast and briefing with your quad guides to get the necessary road informations. Then, you'll have a short lesson to learn how to drive a quad, and an hour to train in the beautiful spiny forest. then departure to ifaty.The road is easy, and nobody is in a hurry, so take your time and enjoy ! picnic lunch and swimming on the way. Arrival in ifaty in the late afternoon. dinner and night at le bamboo club or le paradisier**.

day 11 - Ifaty / Tulear (b,picnic lunch) - 60km

Early morning breakfast and briefing to get the today road informations. The journey is easy, and will slowly take you out of the bush while approaching tuléar. We will leave our quad on the battery beach, and join the airport to get back to tana. For your comfort, a room is at your disposal at the "relais des hauts plateaux", a few minutes from the airport during your connexion time to get refreshed.
