day 1 - Arrival in Antananarivo - no meal

Meet and great at the airport, then transfer to your hotel, la résidence lapasoa or le royal palissandre**

day 2 - Antananarivo / Tulear / Anakao (b)

Transfer to the airport for your air madagascar flight to tuléar. upon arrival, boat transfer to anakao, 1h30 away from tuléar. Anakao is a long white sand beach along a crystal blue lagoon.... The wild nature, the sand hills are all around the small village. it is the perfect spot for diving and snorkelling, or simply enjoying "farniente". Different excursions are possible from anakao, to islands such as nosy ve, or to the saint-augustin bay.

Accommodation at the neat longo vezo hotel, or at the luxurious anakao club resort**.

day 3 - Anakao (b)

Free day at leisure. accommodation at the chosen hotel.

day 4 - Anakao / Tsimanampetsotsa national park (b,l,d) -km

Early morning departure to reach the coast in front of anakao. your driver will be waiting for you. then drive to beheloka, a charming fishermen village set on the mozambique coast. on your way, baobabs, alluaudia with their strange thornbush in a spiral... Continuation to the tsimanampetsotsa national park. the central interest of this park is the lake, which is also classified and protected by the international ramsar convention for wetlands. A rich fauna is leaving here and for example 72 species of birds among which couas, or pink flamingos. a strange white opaque colour is a particularity of the lake : it is due to the calcareous soil. this water chemical composition allows only a unique species of fish to live here : the famous white blind fishes (typhleotris madagascariensis). night camping. Dinner under the beautiful sky.

day 5 -Tsimanapetsotsa national park (b,l,d) - km

Full day excursion in this unexpected park, not very well known yet but so worthy. ... Beside the fauna, the flora is surprising : it is mainly thorny and xerophyte vegetation both on sand hills and brown sand (acacia, croton, kalanchoe...A large part of the area is totally hostile to human living, which makes of this area a very preserved one.

Second night camping.

day 6 - Tsimanampetsotsa / itampolo (b,l,d) - km

We keep on going today through the southern deciduous forest, and low populated areas. Our night stop, itampolo, is known as the place for lobsters in madagascar....

day 7 -Itampolo / Lavanono (b,l,d) - 150km

A long driving day on a sandy secondary road, with the linta river to ford. spiny forest and white sand beaches, small antandroy villages and traditional mahafaly and antandroy tombs will mark out our way. We'll arrive in lavanono in the late afternoon. This place has first interested surfers. nowadays, every year passionate surfing people are coming here to enjoy the waves. Night camping.

day 8 - Lavanono / Faux cap (b,l,d)

Today, we will approach the most southerly part of madagascar, which is at cap sainte-marie. A windy, unaccessible and desert place, but meanwhile, one of the most beautiful landscape and wild nature.It is possible to observe humpback whales from the coast from july to september. We will keep on driving to reach faux cap where we will spend the night at the comfortable hôtel libertalia.
Faux cap is a calm and lovely village by the indian ocean, known as well for being one of the place where aepyornis eggs can be found. This bird has been extinguished for 2000 years ago, and they are very precious. As well they are protected by a unesco convention and it is forbidden to export them from madagascar.

day 9 -Faux cap /Berenty (b,l,d)

Complete change today : we leave the wild nature to enter in the berenty private reserve. Created in 1936, it was firstly dedicated to researchers and it was finally open to the public in the early 80's. Wildlife preservation trust international works in partnership with the owner on a long term conservation program. Here lemurs are used to the scientists and are easy to observe : red fronted lemur, lemur catta, lépilemur mustelinus, verreaux's sifaka, microcebus ... 83 bird species have been recorded, as well as 115 plant species, home of this extraordinary fauna.

An interesting museum completes the visit. you'll learn about the fauna, the flora, androy traditions, climate... night at the berenty lodge.

day 10 - Berenty / Fort-dauphin (b,l,d)

Leaving the berenty reserve, you'll drive through gigantic bot sisal fields, along the mandrare river. This plant has been imported from mexico in 1920, and since then has been successfully cultivated. Traditionally, sisal was transformed in rope, but nowadays, the modern car industry use it as recycle able material for bumpers for example.

Night at the croix du sud.

day 11 - Fort-dauphin / Evatra (b,l,d)

Departure by car from fort-dauphin around 7am, and continuation to lanirano lake. We get on board a boat and go through a beautiful rivers and mangroves labyrinth to finally reach the small village of evatra. Installation to the evatra lodge, and late lunch.

In the afternoon, discovery of hidden small coves, and walk to the lighthouse and to the sand hills.

Unforgetable evening around the fireplace, eating fresh sea food and fish, with traditional dansers and story tellers.

day 12 - Evatra / Lokaro / Evatra (b,l,d)

After breakfast, easy walk to lokaro be, and the sainte-claire islands accessible on foot at low tide. pristine beaches, colourful underwater world. a moment in paradise.
Way back to the lodge for the lunch, then free afternoon at leisure.
Night at the evatra lodge.

day 13 - Evatra /Fort-dauphin / Tana (b)

way back to fort-dauphin on time for your flight back to antananarivo. onward flight to your final destination.
