day 1 - Arrival in Antananarivo - no meal

Meet and great at the airport, then transfer to your hotel.

We propose you either the relais de la haute ville or the résidence lapasoa.

day 2 - Antananarivo / Tsiroanoamandidy - b,l,d

Early morning departure for the middle west of madagascar, passing by the volcanic ampefy area, where lunch will be taken. then, the scenary becomes dryer, and zebus appear in large number we slowly enter the wild west. Night in a simple local cottage.

day 3 - Tsiroanoamandidy / Ankavandra / Manambolo River Safari - b,l,d

After breakfast, flight to ankavandra, which lies over the bongolava mountain range. porters will help us to bring all our luggages from the bush landing strip to the river manambolo bank. Then we'll meet our team of specialised canoe guides and have a quick picnic lunch. In the early afternoon, we take to the river for our first half-day canoe adventure. late in the afternoon, we set up the camp on the river bank for our first night camping.

day 4 - Manambolo river safari - b,l,d

We begin our day on the river with an early breakfast before a full day of leisurely canoeing. this is today a spectacular and isolated part of madagascar that is only accessible by canoe or by foot. Bright red is the dominant colour due to the erosion exposing the laterite soil. On our way, we will see some villagers performing their daily activities, always happy to see visitors passing by.

day 4 - Manambolo River Safari - b,l,d

Today, the river runs through sand banks and become very narrow sometimes, however, our specialised guides know very well the area and they will indicate us the right way. We will meet fishermen who will propose us some fresh fish, children from the surrounding villages will follow us times to times, running on the river bank. The area becomes more and more cultivated with small parcels of tobacco, corn... Picnic lunch and night camping.

day 5 - Manambolo River Safari - b,l,d

Today, the landscape changes : we enter into the manambolo gorge while approaching bemaraha. villages have disappeared, as well as culture or any other life sign. We are now in a totally preserved area. We will find a point where a small clear green-blue river meets the brown water of manambolo creating a striking contrast. We will spend a pleasant and relaxing time here enjoying swimming, and exploring the wildlife rich forest of the gorge.

day 6 - end of the Manambolo River Safari / Bekopaka - b,l,d

after breakfast we continue down through this imposing gorge, between limestone walls and overhangs on which we can see unique vegetation and much birdlife such as the primitive black parrots with their shrill cries resounding against the cliffs.

This is our last day of canoeing. at mid-day, we come out at andadoany village, where we have the opportunity to enjoy a cold drink. We continue to our camp site for the beramaha tsingy exploration : bekopaka. we will lunch at our campsite and then visit the "small tsingy" of bemaraha.

The tsingy of bemaraha is the largest national park in madagascar, and has world heritage classification by unesco. This fascinating limestone plateau is a complex of countless chaotic razor sharp pinnacles. The limestone karst also hosts an extensive network of underground caves.

day 7 - Bekopaka - Tsingy of Bemaraha - b,l,d

Early morning departure today for the "big tsingy" visit, about 20km north from our campsite. This astonishing part of the massif illustrates the characteristic flora of the calcareous karst regions of western madagascar, with dense, dry, deciduous forest, and extensive anthropogenic savannas throughout. although there have been few studies (mostly carried out more than 40 years ago), the flora is not well known yet. Many of the species are unique to this formation, including diospyros perrieri (the ebony of the west coast), musa perrieri (the only wild banana in madagascar). Also, baobabs adansonia are found here, and xerophytic plants such as aloe on rocky formations.

In the late afternoon, way back to the camp, dinner and night there.

day 8 - Bekopaka / Morondava - b,l,d

Today we drive on a rough and dusty road to belo sur tsiribihina where we will lunch. Then tsiribihina river crossing using a local ferry boat, and continuation to morondava, stopping at the famous avenue of baobabs at sunset time. arrival in morondava in the early evening, overnight at hotel renala or baobab café.

day 9 - Morondava / Belo sur mer - b

Morning boat transfer to belo sur mer, using a "boat brousse", which means a fishermen boat. belo sur mer is a small and pleasant fishing village that also specialises in traditional boat construction. Upon arrival installation at the ecolodge du menabe, a simple but charmfull hotel by the ocean. relaxing day with opportunities for swimming.

day 10 - Belo sur mer - b

Free day at leisure. overnight at the ecolodge du menabe.

day 11 -Belo sur mer / Morondava / Antananarivo - b

Morning transfer by boat back to morondava, then by car to the airport on time for your flight back to the capital.
