day 1 : " Arrival in Tananarive " no meal

Meet and great at the airport, and transfer to your hotel. we propose you either the charming la varangue, or the upper standard royal palissandre.

day 2 :" Tananarive / Antsirabe (b,d)

Morning walking visit of the ancient part of the capital. you^\'ll be told a part of the story of the former tananarive, and see some nice typical houses on your way.
Then departure to antsirabe, about three hours by car.
upon arrival, installation either at the résidence camélia or the hotel des thermes. in the afternoon, visit of the tritriva lake, famous crater lake.
dinner and night at your hotel.

day 3 :" Antsirabe / Fianarantsoa (b,d)

drive to ambositra, famous for its wood handicraft. time for some shopping in the numerous shops, and lunch at the tanana masoandro, "a typical hotely gasy".
Then, continuation to fianarantsoa, the place where you learn goodness:
this city has been created under queen ranavalona the first order, when she decided to have a main intermediate city between the coastal areas and antananarivo.
That is the main reason why fianarantsoa looks like so much to antananarivo : It has been built under its model. short old town visit, then installation at the tsara guest house.

day 4 :" fianarantsoa / sahasanaka / mananjary (b, picnic lunch, d)

Today we leave behind us the twenty first century speed and comfort to move back in time. we are experiencing the asthmatic puffs of an old train, that runs from fianarantsoa to manakara.
This is a memorable experience : first because of the beautiful and wild landscape of the east coast, second because all the train^\'s stops along its way.
They are vibrant, colourful and agitated moments in small villages, with a lot of local snacks to taste… make sure you bring some change! this train is the only connection with cities for many villages, so people are impatiently waiting for it ! picnic lunch on the way.
We will stop at the small train station of sahasanaka, and drive to mananjary where we will reach the ocean, and the famous canal des pangalanes. arrival in mananjary in the late afternoon. Installation at the vahiny lodge. day

day 5 :" mananajary (b,l,d)

Full day excursion onboard a comfortable 8 meters long dugout on the fabulous canal des pangalanes. what we call canal des pangalanes is a maze of soft water lakes beside the indian ocean, starting from tamatave and ending at manakara (about 500km long). around mananjary, the commercial activity is important because this area is one of the main production centre for spices such cloves, vanilla, pepper: however, it is not touristic yet.
Aroud 9am, you leave the hotel and go to see the fishermen departure for the day. Then you reach some isolated villages, where we will meet some beekeepers. picnic lunch on a beautiful beach where the canal meets the ocean. swimming possible. Way back to the hotel in the middle afternoon. Dinner and night at the vahiny lodge.

day 6 :" mananjary / ranomafana national park (b,l,d)

Morning visit of two different spice plantations : the first one is a traditional one : the owner is still using his ancestors methods, and he mainly sale his production to local collectors who re sale it to exporters.
the second one is a modern plantation, which use the most up to date technology to produce “ecocert” spices directly exported to certain client worldwide (japan, europe, united states).
the contrast is surprising. lunch at the lodge, then departure for about 3h30 driving up to ranomafana national park. installation at your hotel, either the centrest or the setam lodge.

day 7 :" ranomafana national park (b,d)

The rainforest of this park is home for 12 species of lemurs, among which the famous hapalemur, discovered only in 1986, as well as propithecus or hapalemurs: 96 species of birds have been recorded here as well as 278 species of trees and shrubs among which 81 are endemic to this particular area. an early morning visit is the best moment to spot most of the wildlife.
Second night at the hotel centrest or setam lodge.

day 8 :" ranomafana national park / fianarantsoa / ambalavao / tsaranoro valley (b,l,d)

Early morning departure from the national park to reach the sahambavy tea plantation before 10am : it is the only tea plantation of the country, owned both by private mauritian investors and the malagasy government.
It produces mainly black tea, and since a few years some green tea. most of the production is exported to kenya and sold on the international tea market of mombasa. you^\'ll visit the fields and in season (october to april) the factory also. tea tasting.
Lunch at the sahambavy hotel, by a beautiful lake, then continuation to fianarantsoa and ambalavao. ambalavao is well known for its zebu market, one of the biggest of the country, but also for its wineries.
We keep on driving a little further, to the very small village of ankaramena, and we leave the tarred road to enter on a nice secondary road till vohitsoaka. Then continuation for 10 other kilometres to the impressive tsaranoro cliff (800m of granit). installation at the tsara camp, between the impressive tsaranoro cliff and the andringitra mountains. dinner and night at the camp.

day 9 :" tsaranoro valley (b,l,d)

Full day to explore the surroundings. a large range of excursions is available, from the very easy 1h walk to the strenuous 6 hours trek.
You^\'ll be able to choose your excursions once there. a local guide will be ready to take you where you want. if you prefer to rest, the camp is situated by a nice waterfall, heading into a small lake and a green oasis. Very pleasant place for taking a nap or reading a book.
Depending on the chosen excursion, lunch will be taken as a picnic or at the camp. Dinner and night at the tsara camp.

day 10 :" tsaranoro valley / isalo national park (b,d)

Morning drive southerly passing through the desert and vast horombe plateau. Mid-day arrival at the national park of isalo. This national park is one of the most visited of madagascar.
It is due to both its easy access, and its beautiful landscapes of eroded golden hills emerging from the dry grazing land, its hidden green canyons, its unexpected natural pool: sunset at the isalo window. Installation at your chosen hotel, either the charming isalo ranch or the upper standard jardins du roy.

day 11 : isalo national park (b,d)

Early morning departure for a walking day into the montagne range to discover the hidden fauna and flora.
First we will visit both of the canyons, to spot the lemur catta, lépilemur Mustelinus or verreaux\'s sifaka as well as the pachypodium isaloensis, or the typical palm trees. picnic lunch then walk to the natural swimming pool and way back in the late afternoon to your hotel.

day 12 : isalo national park / antsokay (b,l,d)

In 3 hours, you^\'ll reach the tulã©ar area, and arrive at the antsokay arboretum. it has been created by mr Pétignat, a passionate botanist more than 25 years ago. more than 1000 endemic species from the south have been preserved here.
From the euphorbias, the aloes or the pachipodium. lunch will be taken at the “auberge de la table”. the speciality here is the homemade goat cheese.
Night in simple bungalows in this beautiful, huge and wild garden.

day 13 :" Antsokay / Tulear /Morondava (b,d)

Transfer to the tuléar airport on time for your air madagascar flight to morondava. upon arrival, transfer to your hotel : the renala or the baobab café .

day 14 :" morondava / bekopaka (b,l,d)

this is a long day driving on a bad dirt road, fording the tsiribihina river using a local ferry boat, crossing baobab forest and desert areas. this western arid landscape is beautiful. picnic lunch en route.
In the late afternoon, youâ€^tmll arrive at bekopaka, the base camp for the walking excursion to the famous and impressive bemaraha tsingy, a scenic heritage site. dinner and night at chez ibrahim or at the relais des tsingy.

day 15 : bekopaka (b,l,d)

Morning excursion on the manambolo river, using a local canoe. youâ€^tmll partly discover the beautiful manambolo gorges, and the traditional mahafaly tombs, hidden in the cliff small caves. Lunch and departure for a walk to the “small tsingy”. dinner and night at chez ibrahim or at the relais des tsingy.

day 16 : bekopaka (b,l,d)

Early morning by car to reach the departure point for a full day excursion to the "œbig tsingy". the walk today will take you on the top of the sharp peaks, crossing them in wooden footbridges, then to the bottom of them, in unexpected canyons with special species of plant that adapted themselves to the arid weather. unforgetable day in this mineral world apart. Way back to bekopaka in the late afternoon. dinner and night at your chosen hotel.

day 17 : bekopaka / morondava (b,l,d)

drive back to morondava using the same dirt road. arrival at the famous "allée des baobabé for sunset, then continuation to the city. installation at your chosen hotel for the night : the renala or the baobab café.

day 18 : morondava / tana / final destination (b)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to the capital, then onward flight to your final destination. end of our services. extension to sainte-marie for the humpback whales migration " july & august "

day 19 : Antananarivo / Sainte-marie (b,d)

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Sainte-marie. upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, the princesse bora lodge using a zebu kart.Installation in your bungalow. Dinner and night at the hotel.

day 20 & 21 : sainte-marie (b,d)

breakfast is served between 7h and 8h. Then, appointment at the meeting point with the megaptera team : they are all volunteers from this ngo specialised in recording scientific data on humpback for the indian ocean.
they will explain you what will happen this morning, how you are going to observe the whales, and they will also hand out a mission to everyone onboard (ex : recording the number of baby whales, doing identification pictures). you^\'ll spend the full morning on mission, always respecting the necessary security rules of navigation among those enormous animals. Way back to the lodge for lunch time. free afternoon.

day 22 : Sainte-marie / Antananarivo / final destination (b)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to antananarivo, then onward flight to your final destination. end of our services.
