day 1 - Arrival in Antananarivo - no meal

Meet and great at the airport, then transfer to your hotel.

We propose you either the relais de la haute ville or the résidence lapasoa.

day 2 - Antananarivo / Antsirabe - b,l,d

Morning walking visit of the old part of the capital. you'll be told a part of the story of the former antananarivo, and see some nice typical houses on your way. Then departure to antsirabe, and lunch at the rendez-vous des pêcheurs at ambatolampy, about three hours by car.

Then visit of a aluminium pan factory : they are completely done by hand. this work is a tradition for ambatolampy. More recently, this small city has become the capital of the baby foot. You will also visit a baby foot factory and discover the dexterity of these people.

Then, continuation to antsirabe. Upon arrival, installation either at the résidence camélia or the Hotel des Thermes.

day 3 - Antsirabe / Miandrivazo - b,l,d

Early morning departure after breakfast for miandrivazo, known as one of the hottest place of madagascar. leaving antsirabe, you'll shortly stop to the tritriva lake, a crater lake offering a nice romantic landscape. there is also a gem market along the road with a busy atmosphere.
slowly today, you'll leave the green high lands behind you and arrive in the desert and hot western madagascar. a mosaic of colours will accompanied you till miandrivazo. night at reine rasalimo hotel.

day 4 - Miandrivazo / Masiakampy / Tsiribihina river - b,l,d

35km from miandrivazo, masiakampy is our boarding point onboard our "chaland". About 13m long and 2,50m wide, this is metal flat bottom boat made of a solarium, a dining area, a kitchen, and toilets. Meals are taken onboard, however nights are under canvas on the river sand beach.

Slowly we will float on this large and quite river through the menabe area.

It is the opportunity to reach unreachable villages, and to observe a preserved wildlife (cattle egret, humblot's heron, hottentot teal, white-faced whistling duck...but also sifaka lemurs...).

day 5 - Tsiribihina River - b,l,d

Natural swimming pool, small villages, tobacco fields, and finally we arrive to the bemaraha gorges. crocodiles will be easy to see on our way, as well as sleeping bats, and others marine birds. we will stop at ambatomainty to walk in a dry forest where sifakas lemurs can be spot.

In the late afternoon, we will leave the narrow bemaraha gorges behind us and we will enter the large and flat menabe plain.

We will camp close by the tsaraotana village. villagers, adults and children will come to us to say hello, and this will be a special moment during which our guide will also be the translator.

Last night camping.

day 6 - Tsiribihina river / Tsimafana or Belo sur Tsiribihina / Morondava - b,l,d

Morning visit of a fishermen village where we will buy some fresh fish for lunch if available. Then last lunch onboard, and we will arrive to our final point of our floating trip.
Two possibilities for you :

Or you drive south to morondava and fly back to the capital or another destination, or you extend your trip to the fabulous bemaraha tsingy (please see here after the description.

If you drive to morondava, you'll leave the boat at tsimafana. you'll then be driven on a dirt road to the menabe capital, morondava. on your way, you'll spend a memorable moment at the famous "allée des baobabs" at the sunset. arrival in the city at night. Installation at the hotel renala by the beach.

day 7 - morondava / antananarivo - b,l,d

Transfer to the airport on time for your flight back to the capital, or to another chosen destination.

Bemaraha tsingy extension

day 6 - tsiribihina river / belo sur tsiribihina / bekopaka - b,l,d

You'll leave the boat at belo sur tsiribihina and get on your car waiting for you. Then long drive on a dirt road, but in a beautiful and wild landscape. in the late afternoon, you'll arrive at bekopaka, the base camp for the walking excursion to the famous and impressive bemaraha tsingy, a scenic heritage site. Dinner and night at chez ibrahim or at the relais des tsingy.

day 7 - Bekopaka - b,l,d

Early morning by car to reach the departure point for a full day excursion to the "big tsingy". the walk today will take you on the top of the sharp peaks, crossing them in wooden footbridges, then to the bottom of them, in unexpected canyons with special species of plant that adapted themselves to the arid weather. Unforgetable day in this mineral world apart. way back to bekopaka in the late afternoon. dinner and night at your chosen hotel.

day 8 - bekopaka / morondava - b,l,d

Drive back to morondava using the same dirt road. Arrival at the famous "allée des baobabs" for sunset, then continuation to the city. installation at your chosen hotel for the night : the renala hotel or the baobab café.

day 9 - Morondava / Antananarivo - b,l,d

Transfer to the airport on time for your flight back to the capital. onward flight to your final destination.
