Social responsability

Tamàna Company creates trips and experiences all over Madagascar. We use and depend on the natural environment and the people. Therefore, we feel it is our duty and responsibility to contribute to the conservation of the environment as well as to the education and personal development of the people.

Environment

In 2023, we adopted Rohy, a 5 meter long male tagged whale shark.

Why did you adopt Rohy?
Simply because we wanted to support the Madagascar Whale Shark Foundation (MWSP). Whale sharks are undoubtedly a source of income for Nosy Be, and in recent years there has been a strong craze for these megapters. These animals are also under increasing pressure from tourists and local operators. If their observation is not supervised and organised, they could find themselves in danger and no longer come to these waters for their annual migration.
MWSP conducts research to improve our knowledge and understanding of whale sharks, as well as training local operators, helping to develop a sustainable observation charter, and taking children out to sea so that they can discover these giants of the sea and create a bond with them.
Tamàna is delighted to be associated with this project and hopes that the adoption of Rohy will be just the first step in helping to conserve marine species in Madagascar.
